Open Design

The principle of open design states that the security of a mechanism should not depend on the secrecy of its design or implementation.

This project stemmed from the online forum of Instructables and the idea that stuck with me about inspiring more DIY projects from an original DIY.

From the list, I decided to replicate a pocket-sized pottery wheel. After construction and user research, I realized the form was very top-heavy and offered a list of constraints in regard to shop experience in drilling and cutting machinery.

Although a full equipped shop room offers access to many, 3D printing offers another window into the replicable designs with a smaller room for error.
